KritterKins on Kickstarter April 25th

On April 25th we expect to launch our next project which will be for KritterKins™. This is a collection of anthropomorphic animal character miniatures designed by Vicky and sculpted by me. They have a slight chibi feel to them but should sit well with several other animal character minis currently available. Production on these will be handled in-house and will be run in high quality pressure-cast urethane resin.

For the past several months we here at the Bombshell Factory have been slaving deep into the night concocting new rules and upgrades to the existing Counterblast game. You can now download the complete rules as a Beta test version before the new book is published later this year.

What initially began as rules clarifications in the form of a free Addendum PDF to answer questions and make corrections, we planned the publication of the Mission Directive supplement to add new content to the existing game. However, as we developed more material, rather than publish a separate book, we decided it would be better to take the original, expand it with the new material, upsize the book to a proper format and give it some brand new color art! 

So what makes this version deluxe? It includes an all new Hero Builder system allowing players to make fully customizable characters for their games. Converting this system to vehicles, we have also created a Vehicle Builder allowing you to field some of your favorite sci-fi and Weird War hardware in your encounters, with expanded rules for vehicle combat. New weapons, gear, and psionic powers, have been added along with environmental hazards and new expanded campaign features. This will not be a new edition of the game since the basic structure and core mechanics all remain the same. It's more like a "version 1.5" re-organized, streamlined and easier to learn. The new book will be restructured to make finding the rules faster and easier during gameplay.

Thanks to the up-sized format, we will now have enough real estate to include some fantastic setting detail, background, and narrative, concerning the setting and all of the fantastic alien cultures present in the Outer Reaches. Vicky has been writing expanded source material for all of the present alien cultures like the Illyrians, Shrinaar, and Alanti, species along with more material on the origins of the Mekkus, the ruling houses of the Neiran Empire, and the strange ecology of the cephalopod Edo.

Over the coming months we will be posting details of the development of the project leading up to our new Kickstarter campaign this summer for COUNTERBLAST DLX which will include an all new full-sized color rulebook, printed statcard sets, and new Faction Crew Sets for all the represented factions.

We want to thank everyone for voting for COUNTERBLAST and helping to get the word out! Even though COUNTERBLAST is the runner up, LXG has offered to cover it in its' own campaign in addition to the winner, Warzone: Resurrection.

Just to give you some metrics of what we were up against here are some facts:

Warzone was originally published by Target Games in 1995. A new edition of Warzone was unveiled in February 2013 by Prodos Games (under license to Paradox Entertainment): Mutant Chronicles Warzone Resurrection. Their Kickstarter project for the revised edition of the game was successfully funded on April 15, 2013 at £161,851 from 962 backers. Their Facebook Group has 1,301 active members and 5,317 Likes on their page. Warzone: Resurrection received 85+ votes.

COUNTERBLAST was launched as a Kickstarter project and successfully funded on March 21, 2014 with $35,562 from 289 backers and hit the market in August of the same year. Bomshell Miniatures currently has 267 active members on the Facebook Group and 1,931 Likes to our page. We completed the contest scoring 74 votes.

We are very proud that our player-base stepped up and let their voice be heard to promote something fresh in tone, scope, and design from what currently holds the majority of the miniatures’ gaming market. The exposure from the campaign coverage by LXG over the coming months will bring in lots of new players and will fuel the forges here at the Bombshell Factory to turn out new exciting models and rules supplements for our flagship game!

Kickstarter Fulfillment Update #7

Good news for our Kickstarter Backers in the UK an EU! 

Wendy has confirmed all is good now and they have all 3 cartons of KS fulfilment orders to ship out. The COUNTERBLAST books and also the box of masters arrived safely too.

Orders are being shipped out from West Wind on Tuesday/Wednesday next week. They are shipping them via Royal Mail, 1st Class Recorded Delivery, Track and Trace and the International Signed For Service. Backers will be emailed when despatch has taken place with a tracking number so that they can watch out for Mr. Post.

Thank you for your patience. I realize it has taken a bit longer to get your rewards to you this way, since this is the first time we are offering fulfillment by this method. But as mentioned, it will save our backers on the cost of the customs duties for this shipment, plus, you will be able to supplement your collection in the future.

Over the next several weeks, West Wind will be making their own molds from the masters that we sent, including the latest releases, which will be available directly in their web store.

West Wind Distribution

We are pleased to announce that West Wind Productions has agreed to distribute Bombshell Miniatures and COUNTERBLAST™ products in the UK and EU markets. This will make it easier and less expensive for our European customers to order our products and have them shipped without incurring the dreaded Import Fees.

Production Update #4

This week we have really made some progress on the project. Out of 289 backers 3 were dropped, 5 selected no reward, and 245 have responded to the survey. We are still awaiting 36 backers to complete their surveys. This is fantastic and really helps us move along!

IMPORTANT PLEDGE MANAGEMENT INSTRUCTIONS!!!

We will be posting a SPECIAL UPDATE this week that will have step-by-step instructions on how to redeem your gift code to select your rewards items. Be aware that if you do not respond to the Kickstarter survey with a current active email address, we will be unable to send your gift code to redeem your items.

The web store will have all of the items offered on the Counterblast Kickstarter project, so if you missed out on pledging or want to add items and pay the additional amount, you will be able to do so when you check out.

After a series of arduous nights chained to ZBrush, I have been able to extract ALL of the digital files for the various pieces offered on the Kickstarter project. These 30 files have been sent to print and as soon as they come in I'll post pics. This includes all of the Mekkus parts along with their various weapon options and also the plucky HOpR Bot for the Lancers Faction Core Set.

The HOpR Bot will come equipped with what is shown. He will have a separate head and arms for posing and future releases will allow us to offer variants such as Med Bots, Tech Bots and an all new posable HLpR Bot.

This week we received our first round of masters from Valiant and they look terrific. We have approved them for production and the moldmakers are currently hard at work cleaning masters and making molds.

Vicky and I got quite a bit of work done laying out the preliminary files for the rulebook. We have all of the sections listed and placeholders for all the elements. We received a sample from the printer for the type of book we will be making and the quality of the cover and paper selection is top notch. We are very excited that the book will be as close to having the feel of the early pulp anthology serials, but with an “upgraded” aesthetic.

In other exciting news, Matt Dixon has provided us with a rough layout sketch of what he has planned for the cover art. We are really looking forward to seeing the final version and will post that as soon as it comes in.

April's new releases are now in stock!

We received our shipment of castings from Valiant this week and preorders have been shipped. If you haven't ordered yours yet, check them out here.

Masters for over twenty Babes, thirteen Sidekicks, and three of our Epic models have been shipped to Great Britain this week to begin a licensing agreement between Bombshell Miniatures and West Wind Games. Once a production pipeline is established, West Wind will be able to supply Bombshell products to the UK and EU. We are very pleased and excited to be working with West Wind to make Bombshell Miniatures more readily available in Europe.

We have managed to reserve a table at the upcoming Dallas Comic Con, May 16-18, at the Dallas Convention Center. We will be in the Small Business Expo/Artist Alley section of the vendor hall with all kinds of Bombshell goodies, so stop by and say 'hi'!

We are also pleased to be helping support this year's annual Kublacon, May 23-26, in Burlingame, CA. If you're attending this year, you may glimpse a Bombshell mini or two at the paint and take and speed painting events.

April New Releases

We received the masters for our April releases from Valiant last week and they were approved for production. We should have castings in about two weeks. Preorders will be shipping out shortly after. If you haven’t seen them yet, be sure to check them out here.

Counterblast News!

The first batch of figures for our upcoming adventure battle game, Counterblast, have been sent off to Valiant to be mastered in preparation for production. Funding for this project was generated through Kickstarter and our backers did an awesome job in aiding us in establishing this new game and miniature line of pulp sci-fi adventure. Production and fulfillment for Counterblast is under way, and we are planning to have it ready for release in time for GenCon 2014 in Indianapolis, Indiana. We at Bombshell would like to thank all our backers for their support to make this new game line possible!

...and all is well! We have successfully merged all of the blog posts from the old Bombshell page to the new Airlock Games site here.

The all new Counterblast Facebook Group is open for discussion and we will be updating the forums with a playtest area and new look over the coming weeks as we prepare to launch the Counterblast Kickstarter project.

Master castings have arrived from the foundry for some of the parts offered on the Scout Ship Kickstarter project. We know they are hard at work finishing up the castings to get the pieces sent to us for fulfillment.

COUNTERBLAST

Over the coming weeks updates for the various factions will be posted along with new art and pics of some of the sculpts that will be offered through the Kickstarter project. This will allow potential players to examine the various factions and will provide a more detailed overview of how they will play and what makes them unique.

The Outer Reaches is a varied collection of aliens, some cat-like, some shark-like, some unlike anything on Earth. Only recently have intrepid explorers from Earth been encouraged to travel out among the Reaches to make their way in this hostile environment. Many human-owned corporations seeking rich ultonium deposits have begun to stake claims bringing them in direct competition, and conflict, with the the native Reachers. This make the environment rich for many adventure battles.

We here at the factory are very excited to see all of our work reach the point where it can now be shared with you. Seeing the characters and ideas that have only lived in our imaginations come to life through the talented artists, writers and designers over the course of development has been a fulfilling and rewarding experience. We look forward to 2014, as we look back to what 1948 might have been, to share with you what the Illyrians have shared with us, adventure in the Outer Reaches.

I will be posting updates of the progress on this over on the forums as I work on it. Right now I am practicing on my 3D chops in ZBrush and this would be an excellent candidate for a digital model. You can follow along on my progress on the forum post over there.
