Maelee Set Complete!

We have completed packaging and labeling all of the backer rewards for the Maelee Special Edition Set. We received the stock of castings on Thursday evening and spent the majority of the weekend assembling sets, packing boxes and running labels.

Domestic backers should be receiving their rewards this week. International backers should allow 3 to 4 weeks for their packages to arrive.

We still have three backers that have not returned their surveys. As soon as we receive their selections we will ship out their rewards.

As a reminder, the two backers who pledged at the level for the painted sets, we will be sending the surveys out as we get closer to shipping those rewards. The estimated delivery on them is posted as November to give our painters time to complete the work.

Ten backers will be picking up their rewards in person at GenCon and we look forward to meeting them.

We want to thank all of you for making the production of our Maelee Special Edition Set possible and for assuring that we get to take her to GenCon to promote Bombshell Miniatures.

Keep checking Bombshell Miniatures blog for more exciting news!

Maelee Set Production Update 2

We have had a totally awesome week! I have been amazed at how everything on our three major projects, the Maelee Set, the GenCon show, and Counterblast™ development have rolled along like clockwork!

SURVEYS

We are still waiting for these backers to return their surveys:

D.J. Cole
The Keep
GIC
Cerity "Bottlejak" Silverhawk

For the two backers that pledged at the level for the painted sets, we will be sending the surveys out as we get closer to shipping those rewards. The estimated delivery on them is posted as November to give our painters time to complete the work.

All of the other suveys have been returned and are processed into our fulfillment spreadsheet. We have allocated the numbered Maelee sets according to your backer number. Those who were the earliest in backing the project will get the lowest numbers in the print run.

PROGRESS

We received the castings from Valiant for the Maelee sets and our stock for GenCon yesterday. The UPS delivery was about 7 pm. By 10:30 pm Vicky, Brett and I had everything unboxed, polybagged with bases and wrapped ready to pack in the numbered set boxes.  Earlier in the week Brett had already finished labeling the boxes and had stamped the numbers on them along with the signed certificates.

Today we will be packing the set boxes and prepping the order boxes to ship out as soon as the labels are printed. We are projecting that if everything goes like it has been, we will be able to have everything shipped out by Tuesday.

New Releases for July

We are running right down to the wire trying to get everything finished up before the show. Valiant has pulled through again and gotten us a new batch of masters in a very short amount of time. We are now taking preorders for Blake Russell and Cobra Kyle.

Blake Russell - BOM 10026 - $11.99

Cobra Kyle  - BOM 60013 - $2.99

Counterblast™ Designs

Over on the Airlock Games page we have posted some new art from designer Jeff Paulsrud for the Counterblast™ Adventure Battle Game.  You can check out preliminary designs for two of the major factions The Galactic Defense Force and the Edo.

Sculpting Linna Part 3

In this section I shoe how I add details to Linna's boots after the basic legs have been formed.

Sculpting Linna - Boots

Next I will move on to cover sculpting the drapery.

COUNTERBLAST™ Designs

Here is the first look at some of the designs for the Galactic Defense Force and the sinister Edo. They will form the basis for two of the major factions in the upcoming COUNTERBLAST Adventure Battle Game.

These stalwart space troopers are guardians of the frontier who are equipped to handle operations in any environment.

Hailing from the furthest depths of the frontier, the Edo can strike suddenly and without warning. They have massively developed psychotechnical abilities that can melt brains, erupt in violent waves of heat or rip open the physical realm into the unknown void.

These initial designs are created by one of our skilled designers Jeff Paulsrud who we are thrilled to have onboard contributing to the project. Be sure to check out more if his work from the link.

Maelee Set Production Update 1

This has been a fantastic week! Lots of things have been finished up and sent out in the way of client work, clearing up my schedule to start packaging the rewards and prepping for GenCon.

SURVEYS

As of today we have:
215 backers have returned their surveys
10 have not returned their surveys and of those
4 backers have collection alerts

For the two backers that pledged at the level for the painted sets, we will be sending the surveys out as we get closer to shipping those rewards. The estimated delivery on them is posted as November to give our painters plenty of time to complete the work.

PROGRESS

Valiant has completed the metal casting for the Maelee Sets and out GenCon stock and will be shipping them to us next week along with about half the resin bases. We'll be getting the rest of the bases the following week or so.

All of the certificates have been signed and are being trimmed. All 300 of the set boxes have been labeled awaiting the parts.

All of our GenCon display materials have been delivered. After clearing a space to spread it all out next weekend, I hope to get some preliminary pics of the setup.

NEWS

We have an initial page posted for Counterblast™, the cool new sci-fi game in development that we'll be running demos of at our GenCon booth. You can read about it here. Counterblast™ Adventure Battle Game.

I have updated the web store with two new items.

We now have the Bombshell Sculpting Kit available and are planning a workshop in September for Sculpt Jam 2.

See you all next week.

Sculpting Linna Part 1

I decided to document the process of sculpting the Linna character for the Babes™ line and publish the process for you to see.

Generally the first part for me involves sculpting the weapons for the characters. Here I have created a two-part guide to how I crafted Linna's sword. You can see the process here:

Sculpting Linna - Sword - Part 1

Next, I will be posting about sculpting her basic anatomy and drapery over a prepared armature.

You can discuss the process or ask questions in the Workbench Forums here.

Kickstarter Final Day!

Thanks for sticking with us! Less than 10 hours to go with less than $1000 to unlock the resin base add-on! This is the last chance to get in on the set deals that includes the friendly BdE Bot. This version of Maelee and the resin base will not be offered individually through the web store, so only Kickstarter backers will be able to get extras of these pieces. The set is very limited and will not be overproduced. As of now the print run is at 300 sets. We will only increase this production run to cover extra pledge fulfillment for backers and to have quantities on hand for GenCon weekend.

I have also posted some additional views of the painted piece to the main page.

STRETCH GOAL #2 - $15,000 BASE Solo
If we reach $15,000 we will unlock the individual resin Wrecked Robot Display Base piece as an Add-on for an additional pledge amount of $10 to any backer level. This is not limited and does NOT include the 50mm plastic display base.

SURVEYS

We will work up the backer surveys over the weekend and plan to send those out on Monday. Please make sure your shipping information is up to date and correct. Make sure your email address in Kickstarter is current so you will receive the notification. Make sure that if you are an international backer that your pledge amount covers the additional shipping amount we requested. We cannot ship international rewards without your additional shipping amount included in you pledge.

We have a very short window to get as many of the rewards shipped out before the show as possible. There will be option on the survey to pick up your rewards at GenCon. There will also be a text box that will allow you type in the extra items pledged. For example, if you added $20 to your pledge, you can type "Maelee x2" in the box and we will send the two extra Maelees with your rewards package.

PROGRESS

The production run is in full process. We should be getting our castings starting next week and will begin shipping out the rewards packages as soon as everything is boxed up. Box labels should be arriving on Monday so we can begin sticking them on the boxes. Brett and his crew did an awesome job of assembling 300 boxes over a couple of days and they are all set to be loaded with castings when they come in.

All of our GenCon display materials are scheduled to be delivered today. We have a printed table skirt, two side banners, a display case to showcase our painted figures, foam flooring and our wire rack system to peg up all the packaged minis! I will try to continue updates throughout the GenCon show to keep our backers informed on how the Kickstarter project made this all possible.

NEWS

We have moved the Bombshell Miniatures forums to a new host. You will now find the forums at the following address so update your bookmarks and links accordingly.

You can also get to the forums through the Forums link at the top of our main page at:

Over the next few weeks we will be showing sneak peeks of the cool sci-fi game in development that we'll be running demos of at GenCon.

Maelee Set Final Week!

We are closing in on the final days of the Kickstarter for our Special Edition Maelee Set! Thanks for sticking with us. We have received great comments and messages about the project. As much as it is a relief for you to keep up with, it is for us too. We appreciate the support and encouragement!

PROGRESS

The masters came in this week and look fantastic! We approved the pieces and they are in production now. It should only be a week or two until we start receiving the castings. We have also put back the sets reserved for the painted rewards levels.

Here is a look at what you will be getting in your Special Edition Maelee Sets.

We also had an opportunity to assemble and paint a studio set for the label art.

During this week we will be assembling the boxes, packing materials, and printing the certificates. We also have a bit of finalizing to do with our GenCon preparations. Most of the materials, displays, signage and stock have been ordered and it should be coming in within the next two weeks.

Lots of packing a prepping is right around the corner!

Packing Materials Arrived

NEWS

There are less than eleven days to go and we've been holding steady right around $13,000 with just over 220 backers. I know this seems like a much slower project than the Babes™ Kickstarter run. This is one is just structured much differently than the last one.

The Bomb Factory crew have knocked our heads together and we cannot seem to structure including any other pledge levels regarding individual Maelee pieces other than the current add-on solo offered from the stretch goal. Any tampering at this point would unbalance the value of the existing rewards levels and possibly upset some of our current backers. Thanks for your understanding and remaining support. We want to make it as fair to as many backers as we can.

PROGRESS

The boxes for the sets came in along with the shipment of packing materials. Valiant has made the initial master molds for the metal pieces and the resin base piece. I received notification this morning that the shipment of proofs and paint master shipped out and should be here later in the week. There will be another update with pics when I receive the castings.

I will also be working on laying out the certificates, printing them, signing them, and numbering them this week. I plan to number the certificates and then stamp that number on the outside of the box so it will be easy to tell which set is which in the series.

For GenCon, we have registered our Indiana Tax ID permit, ordered our booth fixtures and signage and received paperwork for the commercial liability insurance we are required to carry for the show. This week I'll be working on art for the new business cards and ordering header tags to package the rest of the product we'll be taking with us.

In other news things are really starting to grow. Our initial order from WarPath Games distribution came in and we are working out the specifics of filling this order to get Bombshell Minis stocked in stores.
